The Town is situated just over 1 hours drive West from Calgary and 5 minutes East of Banff National Park. Canmore came into its own after hosting the Nordic Events at the 1988 Calgary Olympics, the Town has grown steadily and has attracted quality restaurants, bars, shops and galleries making it a vibrant place to visit.
Canmore is well known for winter sports being located close to Banff and all the World class ski resorts within the area. As well as the boarding and skiing you can find dog sledding, ice fishing, ice climbing, cross-country skiing all within Canmore or area.
As the long Ski season draws to a close (late May) the area continues to stay vibrant with white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking and hiking all coming to the fore. Horse riding, fishing and golf also feature locally through out the warm summer months. Numerous festivals and events can be found in Canmore with The Highland Games (September) and 24 Hours of Adrenalin (August) being the largest, with the Calgary Stampede being one of the largest annual events in Canada!
